The Programmes of your Mind – Your Magnificent Mind S1 Ep3

We’ve all been programmed to be a certain way.

We think that it’s “just the way we are”, but really, the way we are, the way we behave, think, act and feel is a reaction to past events and past programming.

When you introduce a small child to new people and preface that introduction with something like “she’s very shy, she doesn’t talk much” – you are subtly programming that child to become the way you say she is.

We’ve all been programmed by our parents – or families – to a greater or lesser degree, as were they, by their parents and family – and by schools, society etc.

It’s not necessarily done maliciously.  It’s just that they didn’t know the effects of their words on our subconscious mind.  (Well, unless they were narcissists, of course – but that’s a whole other story!).

Our subconscious mind takes everything in.  Good and bad.  It doesn’t differentiate because it’s a bit like a computer.  You can download anything you want on to a computer.  The computer doesn’t choose what to take in and what not to.  Whatever you decide to put it, goes in, but that doesn’t mean that the outcome is going to be good.

There are some strange websites and apps out there and what you get from hanging out there too much, can seriously mess with your head.  Each time you go there, you’ll be programming all sorts of strange images and messaging into your body computer.  Much of it, you won’t even know you’ve taken in, because it’s all subliminal.  Much like what we’re seeing all around us every day in real life and in the media.

Imagine you, as a little girl (or boy), with big dreams…

Dreams, that you excitedly share with your family members – probably expecting that they would be just as excited about them as you are .  Just to be told that your dreams will probably never happen because, well…   only rich people can do that sort of thing, or you’ll never have enough money to do that, or that those things only happens in movies and not to people like us.

Your hopes and dreams may have been dashed in that one conversation.   Before they even got off the ground.

You might even have given up on your dreams, right there and then.  Especially if you were laughed at or made fun of for having that dream.

To a young child, that can be devastating.   An absolute shut down of their future potential to dream, set goals or to achieve what they really want in life.

Because to a young child, who is dependant upon her family circle for pretty much everything at that point… if they say it’s a certain way, then it must be right?!

If they say her big dream is not going to happen, then it must be true …  Because, after all, her family wouldn’t lie to her would they?

Has that ever happened to you?   Well, it kind of did to me in a way…

This is called negative programming.  We’ve all experienced it in one form or another, and each time this negative programme is repeated, the message is being hardwired into our subconscious mind.  We then respond, in the way that the programme instructs us to, which in this case is to let go of a dream that we can’t possibly achieve because it’s just not available to someone like us.

It’s estimated that in a fairly positive average home, you will have been told No, or what you could not do, or what would not work, more than 148,000 times before the age of 18.

If you were fortunate, it may have only been 50,000 or 100,000 times.

By contrast though, it’s estimated that most of us can only remember being actively encouraged to follow our dream or achieve our goals about 5 to 10 times.

If the mind learns by repetition – which we know it does – which programme d’you think we’ll respond to the most?

But wait!!!!
Don’t feel disheartened!

Because now that you know this, you can begin to re-programme your mind with a better message and you can actually completely override the old messages once you discover what they are and what they’re connected to.

This is exactly what I’ll focus on with you in Abundance Bootcamp and in my private session work with clients.  This is very powerful work.  And it’s very effective too.

Awareness is the key, so as a first step – start noticing the negative things you say to yourself.  Write them down.  And soon you’ll begin to see a pattern emerging, that will show you the negative programme that is running your life and you’ll know then, what needs to be corrected in your thinking.

As always, of course, email or DM me if you need help or a suggestion of a next step.  Make sure you follow me on YT, IG, FB, wherever you like to hang out – you’ll find me at Karen Turpin Abundance Coach – and join my FB group, called Abundant and Success Female Entrepreneurs for more tips and tricks to help you become the amazing and abundant woman you were always meant to be.
